Some properties of skew codes over finite fields

چکیده

After recalling the definition of codes as modules over skew polynomial rings, whose multiplication is defined by using an automorphism and a derivation, and some basic facts about them, in the first part of this paper we study some of their main algebraic and geometric properties. Finally, for module skew codes constructed only with an automorphism, we give some BCH type lower bounds for their minimum distance.

On Skew Cyclic Codes over a Finite Ring

In this paper, we classify the skew cyclic codes over Fp + vF_p + v^2F_p, where p is a prime number and v^3 = v. Each skew cyclic code is a F_p+vF_p+v^2F_p-submodule of the (F_p+vF_p+v^2F_p)[x;alpha], where v^3 = v and alpha(v) = -v. Also, we give an explicit forms for the generator of these codes. Moreover, an algorithm of encoding and decoding for these codes is presented.

In this paper we generalize coding theory of cyclic codes over finite fields to skew polynomial rings over finite rings. Codes that are principal ideals in quotient rings of skew polynomial rings by two sided ideals are studied. Next we consider skew codes of endomorphism type and derivation type.
